"I am resigning my post at the Council on Environmental Quality, effective today. On the eve of historic fights for health care and clean energy, opponents of reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me. They are using lies and distortions to distract and divide.
"I have been inundated with calls -- from across the political spectrum -- urging me to 'stay and fight. But I came here to fight for others, not for myself. I cannot in good conscience ask my colleagues to expend precious time and energy defending or explaining my past. We need all hands on deck, fighting for the future.
"It has been a great honor to serve my country and my President in this capacity. I thank everyone who has offered support and encouragement. I am proud to have been able to make a contribution to the clean energy future. I will continue to do so, in the months and years ahead."

The latest revelations on his actions after 9/11 was apparently too much for White House.
Thank you Glenn Beck for all you have done to expose Van Jones and his true agenda to America. Tonight it all paid off. But we still have miles to go before we sleep.
When the Soros-backed Center for American Progress declared war on DefendGlenn.com a week ago today, we told them that payback is a bitch. Three days later we released our Van Jones' "Republicans are a**holes" video to YouTube, and the payback began. Van Jones--darling of the Soros crowd and trojan horse for the Socialist takeover of America under the guise of a "Green Revolution"--was finished. It was just a matter of time. Tonight, with the release of Van Jones' post-9/11 activities, the final nail was put in the coffin of this anti-American racist.
Let's focus now on the total destruction of the credibility of Van Jones' brainchild: Color of Change. This same race-baiting hate group endorsed the statement that President Bush "gave troops permission to go down (to New Orleans) and shoot" black people, and called Republicans racists on numberous occasions. Color of Change now wants Fortune 500 companies to view it as some sort of credible arbiter of who is and is not a "racist". This is a lie. A vicious lie. And one which has been used to try and silence Glenn Beck and conservative speech in general, as some kind of end-run around the "Fairness Doctrine". This effort must be stopped.
I call on all advertisers who have pulled ads from Glenn Beck's program, to realize that they have been DUPED. That Van Jones--the founder of Color of Change--has been completely exposed as a vicious racist who spewed anti-American hate. I appeal to you to use this resignation in disgrace as an opportunity to re-think the trust you put in the word of his divisive and radical Color of Change--and return to Beck.
